Last week on Wednesday, top experts from all over the world flew all the way to Bahrain to attend the ePay Summit which was held under the patronage of Central Bank Bahrain and organized by EastMed, with Tamkeen and Bahrain Bourse as strategic partners.
The summit covered the topic of e-Payment and Internet Banking technology as a key factor for e-commerce activities, and it shared practical cases and in-depth experiences in cybersecurity, E-Payments infrastructure, regulation, technological disruption and innovation in the payment landscape.
A number of top-managers and directors of leading enterprises across banking, FinTech, e-commerce, retail, and telecom industries participated in this inspiring summit. Abdulkareem Bucheery Chairman of Bahrain Bourse, shared his thoughts with DT News saying: “I believe that a conference like this is very timely and extremely important. Bahrain has been a financial hub for a very long time and to maintain the position of being the financial center we need to be inline with the developments that are taking place around the world.”
According to Abdulkareem FinTech is something that is growing rapidly and we’ll have to integrate it within our system eventually. “It’s not about liking or disliking the technology, but is about moving forward with the technology,” he said.
Essa J Sayyar, Company representative of EastMed also stressed the importance of vision 2030 stating that summits and conferences like ePay are in line with the 2030 vision. “Banks cannot work in isolation unless all the concerned authorities in Bahrain like the Central Bank, e-government work together to prepare a ground for new technological advancements where we can attract investment to Bahrain,” Essa said.
