The Bahrain Award for Entrepreneurship Announces Commencement of Semi Finals Stage

Manama, Bahrain- Sunday 12th January 2017:

The Organizing Committee of the third-edition of the Bahrain Award for Entrepreneurship, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, First Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Economic Development Board, announced today the commencement of the judging phase of the Semi Final stage for the participating Bahraini companies and entrepreneurs.

The Bahrain Award for Entrepreneurship is organized by ‘Tamkeen in association with its’ strategic partners including the Economic Development Board, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, the Bahrain Development Bank, the Bahrain Chamber of Industry and Commerce, as well as its’ knowledge advisors, the Arab International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Investment – Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for Investment and Technology in Bahrain, and EY Bahrain.

“The main direction of the third edition of the Award incorporates an evolved focus, with emphasis on supporting the current entrepreneurship eco-system, and the development of an entrepreneurial culture,” said the Chief Executive of Tamkeen, Dr. Ebrahim Janahi.

“The Award aims to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit and inspire innovation across all business sectors leading to the economic development in line with the Kingdom’s 2030 vision. The award is the perfect platform to acknowledge the hard work and inspiring stories of Bahraini entrepreneurs and businesses,” added Dr. Janahi.

Successful entrepreneurs succeeded to the semi-final stage after a rigorous evaluation process held during the quarter-final stage.

Commenting on the evaluations process currently underway, Project Manager of The Bahrain Award for Entrepreneurship, Mr. Faisal Sultan stated that, “The evaluations are based on both quantitative and qualitative criteria delivered by the Technical Committee comprising of representatives from the partners.”

“The upcoming stage will integrate face-to-face evaluation meetings conducted between the Technical Committee and the Semi Finalists,” added Mr. Faisal Sultan. 

The Bahrain Award for Entrepreneurship includes seven awards categories: Microenterprise of the Year, Start-up of the Year, SME of the Year, Sustainability in Business Award, Enterprise of the Year with International Footprint and Female Entrepreneur of the Year. The Lifetime Achievement Award is not by application.
