Four Cyber Security Master students from the University of Bahrain(UoB) were granted the opportunity to attend The Eighth International Conference on Innovative Computing Technology (INTECH 2018) and its associated SCCCS’18 workshop at the University of Bedfordshire, as part of a collaboration between the University of Bahrain and Edge Hill University.
The Bahraini students presented and submitted three research papers on the subject of security issues associated with the Internet of Things and the potential use of secure blockchain technology within Fintech and Healthcare industries. The documents were written by Hesham Hasan and Ghassan Ali, Sameer Al-Jishi and Ahmed Tarfa, and Hasan Al-Aswad, supervised by Dr. Wael Elmedany from the University of Bahrain and Dr. Chitra Balakrishna from Edgehill University.
The presentation of these papers was part of UoB’s contribution to advancing Bahrain’s reputation as a leader in the field of Cyber Security. The conference was conducted since the Gulf region looks at innovative solutions to embrace emerging fields like cloud computing and smart cities.
The proceedings of the conference will be published in the indexed IEEE Xplore Digital Library. The collaboration between the University of Bahrain and Edge Hill University in the field of Cyber Security research enables scholars from both universities to exchange ideas, knowledge and work together on future developments. Working with a UK university will help enhance Bahrain’s capacity in this critical area and will play an integral part in strengthening the country’s cyber defense policies, capabilities, and infrastructure.
