Bahrain Technology Society (BTECH) and the Labor Fund Tamkeen has introduced the first edition of the Bahrain Tech Award. The winners will be announced on Monday 9, on the sidelines of the Bahrain National Conference at GITEX in the World Trade Center in Dubai.
The ceremony will host prominent representatives from the private and government sector, executives of multinational companies, telecom industry professionals, and more. Additionally, the jury has carefully selected the nominees based on the value of their products, the level of innovation, its relevance to the contemporary business environment, as well as its competition capabilities abroad.
Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi, the CEO of Tamkeen, commented that the award is aimed at appreciating the efforts of Bahraini technology companies and to help them make the next step. Another goal is also to encourage the private sector and the development of non-oil and knowledge economy.
Mr. Ubaidly Al Ubaidly, President of (BTECH) expressed his gratitude to Tamkeen for the strategic partnership. Al Ubaidly commented both parties looked at the same direction – to boost the IT and telecommunication sector in the Kingdom and to attract local talent. He also mentioned they received 29 nominations so far from this year’s Bahrain Pavilion at the GITEX exhibition.
The jury comprised of well-established professionals in the high tech sector will carefully review all the nominations to choose the best ones. Among the jury members, we may also notice experts such as Mr. Fadi Abdulkhalek of Oracle, Mr. Tareq Hijazi of Microsoft, Dr. Nasser Fouad of the Suez Canal Government Zone, Dr. Fadi Aloul of the American University of Sharjah, Mr. Nidal Bitar of Intaj Jordan and Mr. Paul Fengnan of Huawei Bahrain.
