Bahrain Polytechnic seniors present their final projects at the 10th ICT & Web Project Exhibition

On January 17, Bahrain Polytechnic’s School Media hosted its 10th ICT & Web Media Project Exhibition where their senior students presented more than fifty projects ranging from mobile applications, virtual reality to systems infrastructure to cloud-based solutions.

The students worked at different locations, some at the Bahrain Polytechnic Innovation Lab, others at the Bahrain Polytechnic Multimedia Lab, and also at the Cooperative Learning Project (CLP) at Industry Partners. Additionally, they were placed in private and public sector organizations which include Bahrain Airport Company, Nass Group, Kuwait Finance House, Azimuth, Silah Gulf, Royal Diwan, Civil Aviation Affairs – Meteorological Directorate, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Elephant Social Media, and HUAWEI.

The students’ projects were evaluated by industry partners: Mohammed Abdul Aziz, Information and Electronic Government Authority; Mohamed Adel Abu Hassan, Ministry of Works, Municipalities, Affairs, and Urban Planning; Pakiza Abdulrahman, Bahrain Economic Development Board; Fabio R. Caetano, Ericsson; and Hussain Hameed, Ericsson; Ammar Ali, Maroonfrog; and Ravi Jayasundera, Sysprove Consulting.

The exhibition was inaugurated with a tour led by Dr. Jeff Zabudsky, Bahrain Polytechnic’s CEO, and Dr. James Egan, Head of School ICT & Web Media along with the along the Exhibition Partners including Ahmed Al Hujairy, Gulf Future Business CEO; Sumaya Adel, Batelco; Feras Al Saadi – NGN International-Training Center, Pakiza Abdulrahman, Startup Bahrain; and representatives from Tamkeen. During the tour, students pitched their final products.

The event also included a debate on ‘Capstone Projects’ Intellectual Property that was presented by Raghda Zahra, Program Manager at Bahrain Polytechnic, and Dr. Hanan Al Mawla, Director Legal Clinic at University of Bahrain.

Raghda Zahran, BICT Programme Manager (MIS), commented on the program saying: “The students have demonstrated outstanding work throughout the semester. Their skills, initiative, and motivation have coined innovative solutions which solve business problems. The society serves as an infrastructure for knowledge development as much as the Polytechnic serves as an infrastructure for skilled caliber.”

At the end of the exhibition, the best projects were announced and were awarded several tokens of appreciations and valuable awards.
