A Summer with a Purpose

The Emirati non-profit organization Sharjah Girls Guides (SGG) used the long school break in the UAE to organize several camps for girls from different age groups. Next to the leisure activities, the participants got engaged in art, crafts and design workshops. The teenagers joined classes in leadership, self-management, and valuable life skills.

The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre ( Sheraa) along with SGG held a workshop called “Lead by Confidence.” Meant for the most mature participants, it aimed to develop their leadership and entrepreneurial skills, and prepare them for their future careers.
The program emphasized on the strong communication skills as well.

The ”Pioneering Guide” workshop, also focused on the teenage girls, improved their critical thinking abilities. Through interactive games, the participants identified their strengths, learned about project management and execution, and took part in a mock community project.

Shaikha Abdulaziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Manager at SGG, commented:

The summer camp is designed to strengthen further our efforts to nurture our girls to become effective members of society, advancing personal growth and equipping them to reach their highest potential.

The younger girls had the chance to design racing cars using automotive manufacturing technologies, and bring them to life using renewable energy sources. For those of them interested in photography and videography, some creative classes in camera work and video editing were given.
