MIEVENTO Creative Hub

MIEVENTO Creative Hub is a creative agency delivering services in PR, branding, and marketing as well as events management and planning. They specialize in the YOUTH market exclusively; their target demographic is 18-30 years old

Can you tell us about yourself and the business you started while you were in the Chance program?

My name is Shahd Alzaki. I’m 24 years old, a graduate of the University of Bahrain, and an architecture major. I’m passionate about entrepreneurship, art, fashion, travel, and sports in general. I have worked in many places, and I participate in youth societies, as I love charity and being active in general. I made up my mind to start my own business last year, so from the start, I made sure that everywhere I worked, I would be gaining the right experience to help achieve my goals. My work experience totals six years in sales, events management, and PR.

The day I heard about Chance was the day I decided to apply, go through selection, and start the program. That was in April, but I had initiated the idea of the business in January. In the program, I got the right push to work on my market research, ideas for developing my concept, and the ability to build a solid business plan.

The end result of the program was MIEVENTO Creative Hub, which delivers services in PR, marketing consultation, branding, and events for the youth market. We work with people who want to target the youth demographic.

What were the most important things you learned while going through this program?

I learned to accept feedback from different kinds of people, and build on it to make my ideas better. I learned that research is important in building a business, and how to make my business idea unique. I became familiar with the role of mentor, and the ways I can benefit from it. I learned how to select the team that will work well with me, how to finance my business, and how to work with a team and lead. I learned to represent my business idea in the right way.

What is something you know now that you wish you had known when you first started this program?

I never knew the right way to conduct market research for a business idea, and how important it is in affecting the final direction and plan of the business.

Do you feel like a program like this can help aspiring business owners?

For sure, if the content is tailored somehow to suit their needs and achieve growth. Some of the content, like the market research and business plan, is beneficial for startups—or for an existing company to get back on track and develop.

If you were running the program, what would you change to make it better for a new batch of aspiring business owners?

Maybe I would bring in young entrepreneurs for marketing sessions, to present the latest trends. I’d have more participants, for sure, and make the program sessions more practical and proactive.

What do you think makes your business unique?

We are the first creative agency specializing in youth. We design all our services—from branding and marketing to PR to events—to suit the youth market from 18 to 30 years old. All of the people working in the hub are young. The oldest of us is only 24, and that shows you how we speak to youth in everything we do. In the near future, we plan to build a creative hub that will have youth working. We will accommodate youth with business ideas that we can develop. When they are established, we can help them brand and market as a creative agency.

What kind of responsibilities and challenges did you discover were required while starting and figuring out your business idea?

The legality aspect of the company is definitely a challenge that requires patience. Selecting the right talents to work in the hub and deliver the best-quality experiences for our clients is crucial. Getting a space to build the hub is a challenge we are working on, but the program made it a bit easier. Coming up with the right selling points to position ourselves on the market was also important. We are currently working on our marketing strategies. Positioning is not easy, because we have to stand out.

What do you need to transform your business idea into a running, profitable business?

I can proudly say that we managed to achieve that during the program. The company is up and running, and we have so far serviced four clients. We are happy with that as a start, and we are planning our social media and online launch. All we need is to move into our new space given by BDB through the Chance program.
