Applications open for Silicon Valley start-up tour

MENA start-ups are invited to apply for a week-long training course in Silicon Valley until Saturday, 15 August.
‘Arab World Meets Silicon Valley Programme’, organised by the MIT Enterprise Forum’s Pan Arab Chapter in partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives for the first time in June 2014, aims to bridge the Arab World and Silicon Valley.

This year’s event, which will take place on September 21-27, will again serve as an eye-opener on Silicon Valley’s massive resources.
To apply, start-up founders should have a legally registered company which is ideally two years in operation, generates $500k in annual revenues, has closed at least one round of investment, and has regional and/or global reach.

Interested applicants, who are expected to meet three out of four of the above mentioned criteria, are also advised to apply for the annual MIT Enterprise Forum Arab Startup Competition.
Around twenty of selected MENA entrepreneurs will start their Silicon Valley tour on September 21 by visiting the MITEF Arab Pavilion at TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco.
During the rest of the visit, they are expected to take part in various workshops, mentorship and pitching sessions with experts, industry leaders, investors, members of the Arab diaspora community, and other successful entrepreneurs.

The trainings will mainly focus on the following topics – strategic partnerships, expansion into the US markets, fundraising, connections and international exposure.
Founded in 2005, the MIT Enterprise Forum of the Pan Arab Region is one of the 28 worldwide chapters of the MIT Enterprise Forum Global, an avid promoter of entrepreneurship and innovation worldwide.
Deadline for registration via the organisation’s website www.mitarabcompetition.com is August 15.
