The Rotary Clubs held the closing ceremony of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) for 2022 on Saturday 12th March 2022 at BIBF under the patronage of His Excellency Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labor and Social Development. Many Rotarians from various Rotary clubs in the Kingdom of Bahrain attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Amal Kooheji, Head of Steering Committee of RYLA Bahrain 2022, thanked the Ministry of Labour and social development for all their support to all the Rotary clubs of Bahrain.
She also expressed gratitude to the sponsors, universities, and schools for making this three-day learning opportunity for our Bahraini youth possible. “Because of the combined efforts of all 6 Rotary Clubs of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Bahrain will see more of these growth opportunities for youth in our communities, so we have remembered what Rotary founder’s words which focus on how changing one life at a time can change the world. “So let’s continue our journey of giving together because together, we are stronger.” Added Mrs Kooheji.
On his part, Mr Ashot Karapetyan, Rotary District Governor 2452, gave a keynote speech. In which he emphasized upon the importance of the objectives adopted by the award and said: “After three days, I am confident that a new generation of leaders will take over and carry out the mission of service life sent. Success and failure will always be part of our lives, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start doing better now. Change is a constant in our lives, and RYLA empowers us to change the lives of its participants to a brighter future. We won’t be able to make everyone a leader, but it is up to us to make RYLA and Rotary the best they can be.”
RYLA began on March 10th with an Opening Ceremony hosted by His Excellency Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labor and Social Development, and was followed by a one and a half day of Leadership Training Activities for the various groups.
More than 200 university students participated in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) presented by the Rotary Clubs of Bahrain where they were able to hone their leadership skills through a variety of programs and activities, including experiential learning and group work. The RYLA programmes included the Leadership Education Bootcamp, Sustainability Ideation, Crisis management workshop, Social Entrepreneurship Challenge, Overcoming University Challenges and Innovation Tools and Techniques.
The three-day event was endorsed by the Rotary clubs of Manama, Salmaniya, Adliya, Seef Bahrain, Rotaract Bahrain, and the Satellite Youth Club of Manama, aimed to train and guide young people in Bahrain’s universities in skills such as communication, leadership, collaboration, and responsibility through exciting and energetic hands-on activities that aims transform them into future world leaders.
