Womena, a platform that aims to support and empower female entrepreneurs in the MENA region is graduating the first cycle of its Womentum Accelerator program.
The 8 female-led tech startups spent four months in the Womentum Accelerator Program and now are ready to showcase their products and solutions.
Womena was launched in 2014 to encourage gender diversity and inclusion in the MENA’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, and at the same time increase the number of female entrepreneurs. The platform even built an award-winning Investment group with more than $816,000 in funding into 10 companies. It was also ranked 20 on the Forbes Middle East list “The 50 Most Active Investors in The Arab World in 2018.”
Elissa Freiha, founder of Womena commented on the graduation saying: “We are proud to showcase our first cohort of startups, who have made leaps and bounds since the start of the program.”
She adds: “We’ve seen these companies and their founders grow exponentially. They’ve taken risks, they’ve pivoted, they’ve signed on their first clients – the progress has been stupendous and is a sign that this type of program is much needed.”
