UAE health insurance firm gets rid of cash payments, find out who and why

Yep, you heard right. You can say goodbye to cash payments. Starting from January 2018, Daman, UAEs health insurance firm will be replacing its cash payments with e-Dirham service in all its branches and service points.

According to the Chief Financial Officer, Yousif Al Khanjari, it took them about six months of testing before they launch their e-Dirham service. He says that this service is part of Daman’s efforts to digitalize it services, which in turn simplifies the transactions of their customers.

The service was first introduced in June 2017 as a trial phase which enabled customers to pay for Daman’s services using e-Dirahms at its Abu Dhabi and Al Ain branches. The results were phenomenal: The e-Dirham system actually increased efficiency for payments and even reduced the waiting time for customers.

“Digitalisation has brought about significant benefits to businesses and customers; following the testing period, we are confident that this comprehensive e-Dirham rollout will provide our customers with smoother and speedier transactions,” Yousif said.

But Daman does not stop there. e-Dirham is just part of their plan to digitalize their services and improve their customer experience. Moreover, Daman also has been working on an Emirates ID initiative which allows members access to insurance-covered healthcare serves, in addition to smartphone apps that manages diabetes, weight, and pregnancies.
