Narrativa, the UAE-based natural language generation startup has closed its pre-Series A funding round, raising an undisclosed amount from twofour54, the Abu Dhabi’s media free zone, and several other anonymous investors from the US and the UAE.
Its artificial intelligence product GabrieleAI claims to be the only one in the world that automatically generates content in Arabic, along with other languages. GabrieleAI translates data into descriptive content which eases the creation of mass content such as financial reports and e-commerce product descriptions.
David Llorente, Narrativa’s co-founder, and CEO commented that the funding would be used for technology and business development. According to him, the technology could assist companies to increase significantly the amount of content generated, decrease costs, and develop new revenue streams. Llorente also confirmed that as the main advantage of the company was the Arabic language, it would keep focusing on the MENA region. The firm would increase its market share, especially in the financial industry, oil and gas sectors.
The twofour54 CEO Maryam Al Mheiri added:
The MENA region provides ample opportunities for expansion and is bolstered by a young, dynamic, tech-savvy population that has one of the highest consumptions of social media per capita worldwide. Less than 2% of online content is in Arabic; making startups like Narrativa so valuable.
