Amazon Acquires Whole Foods for $13.7 Billion!

Amazon.com acquired Whole Foods Market at $13.7 billion last Friday, a move that could further transform the method of traditional shopping, thus making it easier for customers to do their grocery shopping online.

The new deal also heightens the competition between Amazon and Walmart, who’s also been working towards online sales and home delivery. The new deal entails that Amazon could claim more than 460 stores in the United States, Canada, and Britain.

Mackey, Chief Executive of Whole Foods said: “This Partnership presents an opportunity to maximize value for Whole Foods Market’s shareholders, while at the same time extending our mission and bringing the highest quality, experience, convenience, and innovation to our customers.”
